There is something for everyone at Woodfellas  WoodShop.  

Woodworking can help with mental health and wellbeing by reducing stress, improving mood, and boosting self-esteem. It can also help with cognitive function, mindfulness, and physical dexterity. 

How woodworking helps mental health: 

1. Stress relief: The physical activity of woodworking can help relieve stress.

2. Mindfulness: The hands-on nature of woodworking can promote mindfulness.

3. Self-esteem: The sense of accomplishment from completing projects can boost self-esteem.

4. Creative expression: Woodworking can promote creative expression.

​How woodworking helps physical health: 

1. Hand-eye coordination: Handling wood, cutting, carving, or turning it on a lathe can improve hand-eye coordination.

4. Ideal for those who are feeling Lonely or isolated.

Introduction to Men`s Shed ethos:

Originally developed in Australia using government backed funding & resources Men`s Shed ethos has quickly spread across the world currently in the UK There are approximately 1100 sheds. Men`s Shed ethos represents a health through Stealth initiative to good health & wellbeing practice providing an alternative to inactivity caused by Death, Disability, Inactivity, Loneliness, Social exclusion, unemployment etc. through the provision of regular organised Creative, Practical & Social activities & Events.

Pontypridd Men`s Shed:

An independent peer 2 peer Support Group for men of all ages & from all backgrounds.

Established in 2022 Our ethos is Men`s Shed. It is a peer to peer support group provides advice & guidance to men of all ages & from all backgrounds.

1. Pontypridd Men`s Shed is designed to alleviate a whole number of conditions caused by either Disability, Divorce, Family, Ill health, Impairment, Loneliness, Loss, Redundancy, Retirement & Trauma etc.

2. Pontypridd Men`s Shed achieves this by providing a health through stealth approach to promoting good Mental Health practice & wellbeing. by offering regular organised Creative, Practical & Social activities.

3. Pontypridd Men`s Shed provides a safe & friendly environment that allows members the chance to participate fully within society.

Pontypridd Men`s Shed is all about Men helping to look after one another. Which is what makes us both unique & special.

Pontypridd Men`s Shed is affiliated to Men`s Shed Cymru & United Kingdom Men`s Shed Association (U.K.M.S.A).

Shed of the year:

Recently Pontypridd Men`s Shed was nominated one of the finalists in the U.K.M.S.A Shed of the year awards including afternoon tea in the state rooms of Speaker Lindsey Hoyle MP the Speakers House in the house of Commons. On International Men’s Day Tuesday 19th November 2024 in the Shed partnership of the year category. Highlights the great work done in partnership with Pontypridd Town Council. Including the setting up of Mondays Shed & Breakfast Pop up Cafe, The Creative Writing Group & of course The Old Bridge Studio.

Creative Design Studio Trallwng:

Currently the main activity is as a community based Podcast production Company. Started life as a stand alone activity organised & promoted within Pontypridd Men`s Shed.

Is a Creative Content & Design Production Studio. Offering Creative & Social Activities.

Creative Design Studio Trallwng Is set up as a third way Non-profit co-operative called Creative Design Studio Trallwng. Managed by it's very own Crew committee & set up legally as an independent Community interest Company (CIC) Governed by it's own Constitution.

1/. Our Aims:

1. Promoting the benefits of good Mental Health practice & wellbeing for all Men;

2. Our main aim of Creative Design Studio Trallwng is to Educate, Encourage & Entertain;

3. To raise the profile of Creative Design Studio Trallwng in the local community;

4. To secure funds to improve the infrastructure of Creative Design Studio Trallwng

5. To campaign for improving the existing facilities within The Trallwng area.

6. Any other aims Creative Design Studio Trallwng has.

2/. Our Goals:

Our goal is to provide opportunities for MEN to Get involved in various creative & Social activities within the Pontypridd area. Creative Design Studio Meet new friends, Enjoy new hobbies, Learn new skills & share experiences with one another.

3/. Our Objectives:

Create a Creative Content Studio Which shall be to establish a supportive hub for Creative Content creators & influencers within the Pontypridd community. Employing a health through stealth approach to Encouraging men to talk openly & freely about their thoughts & feelings.

Future Activities:

Creative Design Studio Trallwng Hopes to provide funding through various grants in order to provide activities Including 3d printing, Animation Production, Ariel Photography, Film Production, Immersive Virtual Reality & Talk Social (Pop UP) Cafe & we will also continue to oversee the Men-Shed.com website as well as it's Social Media.
